Our team at PhytoPelagic is a diverse and highly skilled group dedicated to advancing sustainable aquaculture and preserving valuable marine resources. United by our vision to position the Seychelles as a hub of excellence in aquacultural production, we bring a wealth of expertise from various fields, including engineering, business, veterinary science, marine biology, and commerce. With extensive experience in leadership, animal health and welfare, marine plant biomass, and sales and marketing, we are well-equipped to drive innovation and sustainability in the aquaculture sector. Together, we are committed to serving as a regional knowledge centre, promoting sustainable practices and excellence in aquaculture.

Thomas Juhasz

Thomas Juhasz, DVM PHD, is PhytoPelagics' aquatic veterinarian and animal husbandry lead. After qualifying from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest, Dr. Juhasz completed his PhD at University College Cork on the health and welfare of integrated multi trophic aquaculture (IMTA) species. His interest in low trophic hatchery production synchronizing economically viable time scales of juvenile production with a focus on sustainability and welfare.

Nicholas Adam

Nicholas is an engineer and entrepreneur with a Master's degree in Marine Technology from the University of Plymouth. He specialises in developing sustainable and economically viable solutions, having founded successful ventures in construction, marine engineering, and property/yacht management. Combining technical expertise, business acumen, and a passion for sustainability, Nicholas aims to create innovative solutions for the greater Seychelles.

John Graydon Fleming

John holds a B.Sc. in structural and civil Engineering from the University of Natal, South Africa and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Southern California. An experienced entrepreneur, Mr. Fleming is currently the executive director of a vegetation management and light construction contracting business. He has extensive experience in the mergers and acquisitions field, providing fairness opinions with respect to prospective high value transactions, primarily in the fields of energy, food, hospitality, and heath care.

Brad Youens

Brad Youens has a degree in commerce from the University of Natal, South Africa. He has 35 years of Sales/Marketing and general management experience. He has worked in different sectors with companies ranging from large multinational corporations to entrepreneurial start-ups. Based on the East Coast of South Africa, Brad is a keen fisherman and diver who has a strong interest in preserving the aquatic heritage of the Indian Ocean.

Alexander Lubsch

Alexander Lubsch, PHD graduated in marine plant biomass (University of Groningen, the Netherlands) and worked internationally on hatchery, nursery, and cultivation of different algae species, as well as designed and set up corresponding systems and facilities, including biofiltration applications and ecological intensification techniques in IMTA (Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture) operations.
